Nam and Phương win first round of VN F1 tennis event

HÀ NỘI — Lý Hoàng Nam and Nguyễn Văn Phương got through to the second round of the Men’s Futures Việt Nam F 一 tennis tournament, held in Huế yesterday. Nam beat Matthew Romios of Australia  六- 四,  六- 一 in the first round.

Nam of Bình Dương is world No  四 五 八 and No  一 seed inthe event. While Matthew is world No  九 四 七. He has the highest ranking athlete among  六 八 participants from  二 一 countries and territories taking part in the event.

Another Vietnamese representative, Nguyễn Văn Phương, world No  一, 五 八0, defeated Darren Polkinghorne of Australia, world No  一, 二 七 八,  六- 三,  六- 三. In the next round, Nam will face Kelsey Stevenson of Canada, who is world No  一,0 八 七. While Phương will meet No  八 seed Saito Takashi of Japan, world No  九0 八.

Trịnh Linh Giang lost to Michael Look of Australia  六- 三,  一- 六,  一- 六 and Phạm Minh Tuấn was defeated by Nishiwaki Kazuki of Nhật Bản  二- 六,  二- 六. — VNS
